Malorie Blackman
You probably saw the announcement this week that Malorie Blackman, most famous for her Noughts and Crosses books, is to be the Children's Laureate for 2013-2015, succeeding Julia Donaldson. For more information, there's a roundup of media coverage on the Children's Laureate site, and Bookwitch has a lovely informal picture of Malorie in her rainbow Converses. Even more important than those, it's good to note that she's a huge supporter of libraries and literacy - more power to her elbow there!
